Due to Covid, I am having to leave the car for about 4 months, so fear the battery may be flat when I return.
Is it safe to use a battery booster to restart the car ?

If the battery is in good condition it should not go flat in that time as long as the electronics are left "sleeping" and not repeatedly "woken up" by unlocking/locking.
Obviously if it does go flat a battery booster is one option, 12V is 12V.
Slightly off topic, but I think most retired members will be thinking along those lines of their car standing for weeks on end etc.
I couple up a gismo fed by the mains called a Battery SAVA. It wont recharge a flat battery, but maintains a battery at full charge. I've had this for years & used it on our Motor Homes during hibernation weeks. I've since searched online for this item or similar, but drew a blank.
Do a search for Optimate and Optimax. I use one on my MG in the winter, but have had to use it a lot this year due to illness and more especially Covid. Total kms this year 40, usually 4000+.

It seems that solar powered trickle chargers are the "in thing" !
