The Dacia Arena: A New Cutting-Edge Stadium For Italy

23rd March 2016 by AG_Admin Leave a Comment

The Dacia Arena, home of Udinese Calcio and familiarly known as the ‘Diamond’, was officially inaugurated by the Italian soccer team and the automotive brand Dacia on Sunday, March 13. The new Dacia-sponsored stadium in Udine, in Italy’s Friuli Venezia Giulia region, is a modern, multi-purpose facility designed to meet the needs of fans, families and businesses alike.

A European benchmark, the Dacia Arena marks a new step in the partnership sealed between the carmaker and Udinese Calcio in 2009. In addition to being the first stadium in Italy to be sponsored by a car brand, it is the only case in Europe where a stadium has been named after a make that doesn’t have a factory in the country concerned.

The permanent structure took eight years to design, and less than two to build. No additional land was occupied in the process, while environmentally-friendly construction techniques and materials – many of which were sourced from recycling – were employed. The stadium’s futuristic façade comprises 10,000 satin-finish stainless steel panels which have earned the Dacia Arena the nickname ’Diamond’ because of the way they reflect light.

The stadium has a seating capacity of 25,000 – all covered – and there are no obstacles to obstruct spectators’ view of the pitch. Facilities include a selection of bars, restaurants and other services to help make visiting the Dacia Arena an unforgettable experience.
