Have you pre-ordered a UK Dacia Duster?

What spec did you go for?

Have you got an estimated delivery date yet?

Looks like I'm the first here

I've ordered a 2WD Access. Want something cheap and cheerful, and not worry too much about it getting damaged. At £9k, it's a bargain! It is basic, yes, but that's part of the appeal. Less to go wrong, especially with the kids and dog clambering in and out.

I have ordered the basic 2wd Access. I put down £100 deposit online, but then the dealer asked me for a further £500 deposit "to secure my delivery slot". Has anyone else had this? Delivery was originally scheduled for 21 February but now seems to have slipped to March.

I will go for the extended warranty which is great value but the other Dacia accessory packs look expensive. Will source my own stereo, reversing sensors, towbar, mats etc.

My main regret is that aircon is not avialble on the less expensive versions.

Did you pay the £500? That to me sounds like a con. You can order online and not have to pay that extra. When I visited my Dacia dealer last weekend, delivery time was quoted for March. Then I read that no-one would be receiving their Dusters before then anyway (need to find that link!). 7 year warranty looks like very good value. The accessory packs, yes, do look expensive, but you can pick and choose your bits from here :

That's going to be my plan. I want certain body protection items only.

Aircon - agreed. Have already complained to Dacia about that! It's just a ploy to get people to buy the Laureate version if you ask me!

I'm after the 4WD Access version, but not until I've test drove it. So will be placing my order in Jan I hope!

Ambience, 4x4 with the touring pack, Grey with Traction control and ESC, which Which seem to think is important, LOL

Yeah, I saw that article as well. How did we ever survive before ESC was invented?!?

It's also why they scored it down in the EuroNCAP results, no ESC as standard.

A bit harsh, I agree.

I read somewhere, however, that the NCAP tests of even 5 years ao were much simpler and that the Duster would have been put through them then it would have got a much higher mark!

Don't forget they also tested the pre-release model. There is always the possibility that they'll test a revised version with ESC, it does happen sometimes. Renault may insist on it as their cars bnormally get 5 stars.

Got a test drive of a lhd duster on 9th December in Tunbridge Wells!

So busy I will only have 15mins.

I think it is.

I have no idea of the model or the engine at all.

The dealer said that it was one of 3 until the rhd ones were over in Jan.

Still no idea on the delivery time!

As I understand it there were only 3 in the UK and they were spending one day each at each dealer . However that was about a month ago.

9th December is the only day it is going to be at Tunbridge Wells, which is why I am only getting 15 minutes.

That being said I have never had a test drive of a new car before so is 15mins short.?

Also please be aware that I am an easy sale, so could be just the sales pitch lol. ;-)

Seriously though, the dealer here seems on the level. The car is apparently here for those who won't commit before a test drive and I got a slot having laid down a deposit.

Anyway worth checking with your dealer to see if one is coming your way!

Test drive lengths vary really, 15 mins is (in my opinion) enough to make your mind up, although I'm sure others will disagree!

We bought a car for her to drive around in a few weeks back. 20 minute test drive on a variety of roads, it was more than enough for me to be happy with the car. With a new car, you really just want to see how it performs and handles. With a second hand car it's all about getting it up to temperature and checking everything works.
