How old is your stepway? I thought the hatch was on the central locking circuit across the range now. But as you said it should be possible by fitting the parts from current Sanderos locking systems. I don't think it will be cheap.

Mine is new, registered in April. It locks on the central locking, but you still need the key/ lever to open it.

That's strange, on mine if the central locking is unlocked I don't need the key to open the boot. Just press the key barrel/button to open. On previous cars I have had, there was a separate button on the remote key fob to open the boot.

I wonder if it's an RHD market specific thing, as having to open the boot with the key is one of the things consistently picked up on by the motoring press as a negative, across the range.

(Personally, at these prices, it's one of a number of "negatives" I could happily live with.)

The UK model doesn't have that luxury!

Lever by the drivers seat or key in the lock.

I know that its no big deal, but it would be nice to be able to unlock all the doors at the same time.

I cant think of another car where you have to open the tail gate / boot separately ..... sigh!

It wasn't all that uncommon a few years back - and let's face it, the Dacia tech has its roots in the 1990s :/

Except for the Tce90 engine, which is very much current.

Indeed it is, I was more thinking of the chassis and minor components.

Found this on the internet, an electric boot release kit and only 17 quid!  is that the sort of thing you are looking for?

Hi, thanks for the link.

That looks like it just an electrical switch which does the same as the lever.

I really need to find a wiring diagram somewhere........as I need to find the central locking control box.

It was just a little mod, that I would like to do.......sometime ;)

stepways here (Turkey) have remote locking tailgates,  finding the part numbers is black art I have yet to master even with the parts manual in front of me.  Iam sure the guy who wrote it made the enigma machine.

Right I want to do this im thinking I can take a live feed from the boot light that comes on when you unlock the car. Replace the key for a push switch to an actuator
