Has anyone got any suggestions as to what type of entertainment system to get installed as the Chinese one I got is rubbish. I have been quoted £900 for a pioneer system installed.

That's an awful big remit. What do you want in it, cd/dvd for instance? sat nav? double din or single din? how much do you want to spend...

£900 !!!!! Do you really need that good a system? I am no expert but I would say thats expensive unless you want/need top quality?

This is a good unit: http://www.kenwood-electronics.co.uk/car/nav_mm/mm/DDX5015DAB/

It uses this fitting kit: http://www.connects2.co.uk/NewProductsCS.aspx?id=21589&p=CTKDC04

Fitted to a Duster along with a DAB & FM aerial combiner (so I can pick up DAB on the factory fitted Duster aerial): http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00RVP2QTU

A reversing camera: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00RMKGMTO

I have kept the factory speakers for now (as I'm usually tuned into Wave 105 Hampshire or Absolute 80s, the speakers are not exactly being pushed). All done myself. You need to have some idea on what you are doing and have some confidence in pulling bits of trim off to fit the head unit & to hide cables away. Once all these bits are purchased and then you pay for someone to fit it, I can see where a £900 figure came from.

Not too sure what to buy but still contemplating. The main thing for me is that I want someone or where to go if thing go wrong. Buying from eBay was a nightmare

The stereo was fine MrFibble but I couldn't connect my reverse camera to show on screen as the last update somehow disabled it. Also I wasn't happy about paying twice a year for updates

Truth, the quote surprised me too. I expected to pay a few hundred but nothing like that but if you are some of the other bits that you need to buy the maybe £400 at a push

My headunit does not have satnav, I still have a TomTom unit which sits on a beaniebag on the dash when I need navigation, hence I didn't open my wallet any further! What it does have is a HDMI input and screen mirroring for a mobile phone. I've yet to try it, but in theory I could plug in my Android phone running a TomTom App and have the output shown on the head unit screen.

It depends on what you want from a head unit. For me, I wanted the ability to connect a reversing camera and the composite video out from the dash cam recorder. The DAB radio, DVD playback etc are just an added bonus really.

I'd go with the separate sat nav as well, I have a Garmin five inch unit that cost a good deal less than £100, has traffic reports and lifetime free updates.
