Does anyone know if there is an alternative to waxoyl? I'm not keen on it as it stays tacky.
In the late 90s I had a 93 escort with very rusted wheel arches, a Guy in a portacabin repaired it for me and put some black stuff in there that dried out smooth but dry, (could have been bitumen or something i suppose looking at his work place)but still repelled water, nothing seemed to stick to it, it always seemed clean and shiny ish and the arches never rusted again up until I got rid anyway a few years later.
I do try to hosepipe the arches out at least weekly in winter, but often the weather doesn't allow it as its either raining, or the pipes frozen.
I would ask the Guy... but the yard he worked in has been made into a car park by look of it,I didn't get his name, although he was fairly old then, he might not be around at all anymore :(

Sounds good, thanks, the sound deadening aspect might stop me gritting my teeth everytime a stone wallops into the back wheelarch.
Can't see it being that on my escort mind, probably had a barrel of tar bubbling away in the yard looking at the quality of the workplace, and all the work was done outside under a lean-to.
