Automatic wipers on new car

hi. I have purchased a 2025 Dacia Sandero Journey and have read through the manual but I am unable to get the automatic wipers to trigger. The only options on the stalk for the wipers are manual, none, auto, quick and fast. Which having quick or fast activated during light rain seems pointless and I’m sure over time will damage the wipers. I have set it to auto and went through all 4 different sensitivity options and have attempted this while parked and also while driving but they do not activate. I have tested it on private land in an empty space and it will get to the point of not being able to physically see and yet they still don’t trigger. Any help is appreciated

Welcome to the forum XDPX.

Auto essentially replaces the previous intermittent wipe setting.

The auto setting will only trigger when it rains, and will be intermittent; normal; or fast depending on the rainfall intensity.

I leave my wipers on auto (2014 Duster), and occasionally switch from to normal in rain, if I think they aren't wiping fast/often enough.

Try them again this weekend...plenty of rain about!

I have had four cars with "automatic wipers" all different makes one of which was a dacia Jogger. In every case the "automatic" feature has been completely useless. It was either too slow to start or if it did start the speed of the wipers was so erratic as to make them very distracting. I usually resorted to just flicking the stalk to manual occasionally. My present car, a Citroen C4 Spacesaver (soon to go in favour of a Skoda Kodiaq) is not any better as far as the automatic wipers are concerned.
