I have been driving around since my car passed it's MOT but my service light didn't go out, so another driver flashes his lights at me from behind and told me that I have No brake lights working. So today I got new switch and the service light has gone out. I was about to change my car as it was making my life hell.

Did you change the brake light switch or did a garage do it, as perhaps they reset the service indicator at the same time?
It was done at the garage where I brought the car but they would have known about the brake lights not working to passed my MOT. 3 weeks since my Service and MOT I was told by another driver I had no brake lights, reason my service light was still showing but after putting in switch the service light has gone out
Which light is the service light? Cars will generally throw a code if the brake switch is inop because a lot of subsystems depend on it including ABS, traction control, cruise control release, transmission, parking brake, stop/start, etc - not just the brake lights.
