Ok folks.....

I don't want to put this on the forum.....but George is leaking :(
It was tipping it down on the way home, and I suddenly got dripped on....from on top of the drivers door. The carpet etc is dry. i

its just coming in around the top of the door, running down and then dripping on me!

It looks as though the door isn't sitting in the ....err.....door hole.....snuggly enough. I'm hoping the fix for this is just that a nut needs tightening with a spanner thing.

Anyway I phoned the dealer (Enrico and Steve at Renault Seafield) who were brilliant and helpful, and said George has got to have an operation to discover what the cause of the leak is. Its probably the door seal, and the car "easing" after being brand new....but I shouldn't be getting wet!

I've got to book him in to be looked at by the service dept in the morning. And I'll be getting a courtesy car which is brill ...

Ho hum

Still love him though

Now folks....I don't want any negativity about this....its just a door that needs adjusting...its not doom and gloom...its teething trouble on a new car....and thats why we have a warranty. And its just dripping, not the gushing discussed on other bits.

I just wanted to be honest with you guys, George is leaking :(

Just hope George is going to be ok,,,cos I really really like him

It may well be that the door has settled on it's hinges and just needs adjusting, if you can't see any defect in the seal it can only be the door either way it should be fixable.

I am sorry to hear George is leaking and hopefully it will be a simple operation. Glad to hear this little hiccup hasn't "dampened" your love of the car.

Was thinking of looking at other cars the other day as getting tired of waiting, the saw a duster on the m5 and my wife said "you still want one don't you and you won't be happy with anything else!" Wise woman my wife that must be why I love her.

Anyway keep us informed of how you get on.

Sorry to hear that George is a bit under the weather (oops) ... good that only a minor op is needed. Probably just a local anaesthetic job as a day patient. Soon be right as rain (oops, again). Best wishes for speedy recovery.

George is just dribbling .

This is a leak

Having a full HGV license , I had to bring a load of green goddesses down from Ashborne in Derbyshire to the south coast . Well it started badly and got worse , We had a convoy of 30 trucks , maximum speed 28mph , and guess what, we had a police escort . Well that did not stop us having an accident within 300yds of the storage base , 1 hour later we start again . The cops decided to take us down the M6 , M40 , A34 . Fantastic plan nothing like P***ing off a complete motorway network . Soon as we hit the M6 it started to rain , the windscreen wipers were crap , but that was not the reason I could not see out the windscreen , that was due to the water pouring down the inside of the screen .It then started to leak at every roof seam I am now in a moving shower , what's more it is a slow moving shower . The only things that did not leak were the back doors which had a perfect seal , so much so the back now started to fill up with water . I must have been the only guy who was now going to drown in a green goddess . In one deft movement I managed to flick the truck to one side and lean over and pulled the door open , water pours out in a flood . I am now driving along in a mobile shower with the added in convenience of the doors open . Now I was not going to drown , I was going to die from hyperthermia . Stroke of luck , our first breakdown of many , everybody stops on the hard shoulder , I quickly get to the lockers and get the full wet weather gear on , I am now driving dressed up as a deep sea fisher men . People going passed must have wondered what the hell was going on . As the tank range is only about 100miles we had to stop to fill up . Low and behold the agency card issued to us does not work , so we are now paying out of our pocket for the pleasure of having a cold shower with the doors open .

Hope you are smiling .

George does not have leak he is just dribbling .

:D thats hilarious!!!!!! At least when I drove the 100 tonne dumper on the M54 many moons ago, I only caused a 5 mile queue!!!!!!

I wish George  would stop dribbling on me though!!!! We'll see what the dealer/service guy "Jim" says tomorrow!!!

Thanks again everybody for your kind words....nite -_-

That doesn't sound like a leak, that's just an adjustment. It happens.

One question - on my current car, because of the roof shape, if I drive with the window open after or during proper rain I get wet as accumulated water slides off the roof and in through the window...does this happen with the Duster?

You need to be carfull with these georgian doors and windows....any unathorised modifications and the planning deprtment will fine you and make you replace the originals!

Had the same problem with an Allegro Regency back in the 70's!

Easy fix, just bend the top of the door in a bit. It saves chipping the paint off the door hinge bolts or lock striker and upsetting the punter even more when the rust starts on and around the bolts.

Just got in from work, major queues on the FRB!!! And it was raining pretty hard all the way.....and George  is still leaking! :(

My brolly is too big to open inside.....I suppose I could wear a Sow-wester...in bright yellow...!

Spoke to dealer today, and it needs booked in, so will phone back tomorrow, and hopefully get it sorted as I need a courtesy car. Hey ho!
