I think you'll find that the 600 bandit was the best I've had one for over 13 year's cracking bike for what they cost

Apologies if I've missed this - mind if I ask why the first Duster was returned?

I bet you left the Daf in gear when you started it and wrote it off, my mate demolished his garage door with that gear box/ And who could forget the Wartburg with its two stroke engine,

They really don't make cars like that anymore :)

A lorry decided to drive over the DAF, with me in it ! Best thing that could have happened to it !
Never spent a penny on repairs for the Wartburg, cheapest car to run I have had (no oil changes ! )! Drove it all over the south of France camping with the wife and 2 kids. Treated myself to a new Skoda when I returned from holiday after chatting to a Skoda owner on a French camp-site.

In keeping with the other posters, my car history is as follows;

I passed my test June 1989.

Ford Escort Mk2 (KJT 895W) Written off twice and then nicked.

Morris Ital (Scrapped)

Hillman Avenger (Sold)

Ford Granada Saloon 2.8 (Changed to a 2.0ltr Lump) (Scrapped)

Vauxhall Cavalier Mk21.6 (Bought in the dark, so leaking vaulve oil seals not noticed) (Scrapped)

Toyota Carina 2 (Scrapped after my sister cooked the engine)

Ford Fiesta XR2 (Sold after a week, awful car)

Vauxhall Astra Belmont (Sold to a mate who didn't register it and was left burnt out on M2 services)

Vauxhall Cavalier Mk 2 with a 2ltr GTE Lump, bought for £100. Fantastic car. (Stolen and then written off in Staplehurst station)

Vauxhall Cavalier Mk 3 bought as a write off from a scrap yard (Scrapped)

Vauxhall Vectra, ex taxi with 175k, lasted 3 years (scrapped)

Ford Focus ex wife's (returned to ex wife)

Then

Smart Car Pasion (Given Away)

Dacia Duster Ambience (Returned to dealer)

Vauxhall Astra 2005 (Written Off)

Vauxhall Astra 2012 (Courtesy Car)

Seat Altea XL 2007 (Traded in)

Dacia Duster Laureate 2013 (my new baby)

18 cars in 24 years.

Yikes

Hi

Royale431

I did post in March, but the issue was, and this is serious :) , the lack of a folding front passenger seat. At the time is was essential.

If we're making lists...

1957 Morris Minor (older than me!) - once tried and failed to get up the hill to the ski tows at Cairngorm  not enough guts in the 25yr old engine.

Hillman Avenger - pos

VW Golf - lovely drive, clutch like a knife edge though.

Lada Riva - Slugger

Rover 214 - got rid of it at 14yrs old only because it was becoming too expensive to repair.

Fiat Panda - Nice enough little car but just too little for a big guy like me

Dacia Duster - Looking good so far :D

And three vans..

Sherpa van - it was okay I suppose

Vauxhall Astra van - loved driving this one after I'd got over the back ache the weird driving position gave me.

Renault Kangoo van - great drive, kept it for 8 years and sold it in near pristine condition.

Some great (and not so great) cars on the lists here - brings back some real memories!

Well, here goes:

Austin Maxi 1750 - (1976 registered - cost £250 but never got it on the road as it need £250 worth of welding!)

Opel Kadett (C) SR - (1976 registered - my fave car ever and as rare as rocking-horse-doo-doo now)

Ford Excort MKII - (1980 registered - rear wheel drive... Yahoo!)

Hyundai Pony - (1986 registered - reliable but so DULLLLLL!)

Vauxhall Astra - (1997 registered - next....)

VW Polo - (1986 registered - part-exed this with 150,000 miles on the clock - still running today!)

Perodua Nippa 850 GXi - (1997 registered - 3 cyl 850cc engine but a great hoot!)

Hyundai Tucson GSI - (2005 registered - great car - muchly fun off-road!)

Dacia Sandero Stepway Tce90 - (2013 - really liking this car even after smacking the rear door into my cheek-bone....Twice!)

Well I'm kind of old so maybe that accounts for the list. My absolute all time favorite was the 1990 Plymouth Laser Turbo. Same car as Mitsubishi Eclipse and Eagle Talon. Mine was turquoise. It had four wheel disc brakes and 190 hp. Magazines testing it said it was good for 150 mph (I took their word for it as there was no place I could try that out without getting a huge fine). A real pocket rocket for $16,000US and beautiful too. I kept it for 160,000 miles and nary a problem until the very end when it needed an AC component and issued some blue smoke. Never a problem with the turbo. What a car! I miss it dearly but it would never do in the country I'm in now where you really need something like...a Duster.
