My rear wiper is stopping intermittently - either works or does not. RAC came out - fully check fuses etc when not working.

Sods law - working fine when at Renault for service so claim cannot do anything? I would say electrical rather than mechanical any ideas - want it fixed before warranty runs out

Maybe faulty when wet, OK when dry in a service bay being checked.

Quite often when the motors are made they pack to much grease in them ..you get a cold snap [weather changes] and the grease gets thicker..I have also know it to get onto internal contacts and cause problems..might be worth taking of any obvious cover and checking it out..

Have you wiped your fronts before engaging reverse?

Hi Griffer

Yes, but can't remember if I engaged the front wipers every time... why? & should it make a difference?

If the front wipers are on (even intermittent) then the rear wipers automatically start when reverse is engaged.

That must be it then! I switch the front wipers on first for a few seconds then immediately switch them off before engaging reverse. The rear wiper will still come on for a few seconds even though the front have been switched though.

I dunno why they think anyone would need this on a car, it even goes off if you've just sprayed the front sending the rear wiper crashing over the dry rear screen.
If i want the rear wiper on I can turn it on myself.
we damaged the rear wiper on our c max a few years back caused by this on a frozen screen, thankfully only the bolt needed re tightening.
