Hi, I've been trying to source a replacement wiper motor for my partner's 2016 Sandero, and judging by how scarce second hand ones are, they seem to fail fairly often. Is this other people's experience? I think a wiper motor failing on a 4 year old car is a disgrace, coupled with the fact that you can only get a new one from the dealer at the low low price of £306.

I took the old motor to an auto electrical shop and after having a look they said they couldn't repair it. Going back to them tomorrow to get the motor back and ask for their opinion on why it died.

If this as common as it appears, why isn't it the subject of a recall? It's not like it's a set of brake pads or wiper blades.

Isn't it also possible that they so rarely fail it is not worth scrapyards pulling them from scrap cars and putting them on ebay.

There are breakers that advertise cars being broken for spares and you can request a quote for them to strip and post the part you want.

I thought that but every scrapyard I've contacted via eBay or phone directly has said they either didn't have a dacia in or they did but the wiper motor had already been sold. The garage who were also looking for a second hand wiper motor had the same problem.

Are you certain it is the actual motor? If so it has been reported that the clio Mk3 wiper motor alone, not any of gears and linkage, is the same. there is no part no. for the motor alone so it is up to you to do your own research.

Thanks for the info, I still have the old motor so when I have a bit of spare money I'll get a mk3 clio motor and transplant them. Will be handy to have a viable spare if the new one decides to die in a few years time.

Can you share a link to this please, as I have the same problem of not being able to scource a replacement at a sensible price.

Are folks sure it is the motor?, I would be wiring it up to the battery, if that worked I would be looking at the relay.

Not sure what my problem is tbh. It takes about 4 minutes for my wipers to do one wipe up and down.

As suggested elsewhere on this forum, first thing is to check the linkage works ok.

I can Confirm it's almost 100% the linkage
I have the sane problem

Question is where do you find one cheaper than main dealer and also one that is right hand drive?

And help would be very appreciated by everyone I'm sure

Hi, did you manage to sort the wiper issues?
On a 2015 Duster I have wipers that only operate on the full speed setting.
I have replaced the motor and stalk /switch. Neither made any difference.
The washer works fine but is not activating the wipers either.
Any suggestions on what is faulty?

I can't see that yours is a linkage or motor problem if the wipers work ok on full speed. I appreciate that you've changed the stalk/switch but the way you describe it, the problem does seem to be electrical. Have you used a multimeter to check the wiring?

Have you done a search for 'Duster wiper failure' or similar?

I agree it seems electrical. I have not put a multimeter onto anything as I'm not sure where to start.

Plenty searches have turned up nothing against Dacia or Renault.

Have you checked the self park micro switch which should be somewhere near the motor.

I believe the switch is only in play when on slow and intermittent. Fast is wired direct as you have to move through slow to turn off which brings it into play.

I didn't see any micro switches but will follow the wire back and see what I can find.

Do the wipers park normally when used high speed? How did you replace the motor? According to other posts on the forum they are as rare as hen's teeth secondhand.

There do not appear to be any micro switches before the wiring goes back to the under bonnet fuse box.

The wipers don't park at all.

I replaced the motor with a second hand part from a scrapper. The new parts are seemingly on back order and I had been waiting on a new one from a garage for months. They still can't get the new part.

I tried a new mk3 Clio motor first but that didn't fit.

The micro switch will be somewhere in the motor gearing with a cam. I have never taken the motor out myself.

If you have 4 wires they should be in no particular order:

1 Ground.
2 12 Volt to park micro switch.
3 12 Volt Slow speed
4 12 Volt High Speed

There is usually just a dropper resistor in the slow to reduce motor speed. The park keeps the motor going until a cam causes a micro switch to open when park is reached.

This is general to wiper motors and not car specific.

I'll need to take it back to a garage. The lack of new parts is a pain.
It would have been unfortunate to replace on motor with another broken the exact same way.
