Just received a phone call off Andy Heiron at Dacia UK to say that this statement was about to go live. Here you go............. if any work is required then they will be extending your paint and correction warranties by a year. Dacia Duster Statement

Dear Dacia Duster Owner,

In a previous message on Dacia.co.uk we said that we were aware of a limited number of Dacia Dusters that can have potential paintwork issues. This issue is exclusive to right hand drive Dusters and was unique to the initial production phase for the UK.

On a limited number of initial production phase Dusters delivered between January 2013 and August 2014, it has been found that an inconsistency in the process of painting the bodywork may cause some surface corrosion to appear on certain panel edges - for example, inside a door frame or on the inside of the bonnet. This issue in no way affects the daily operation of the vehicle.

Clearly, we are not satisfied that any of our customers might have such an issue so, since we first issued a statement on 16 June, we have been extensively investigating the matter with our Engineering and Quality teams. They have developed a robust repair for any Duster that may need it and we've already started to implement this process with customer cars. The production process has now been modified and from today new customer orders are not affected.

We have already started phoning customers who have been in touch with us to report a potential issue on their car and we will also be making contact with all potentially affected Duster owners over the coming few months. This is to arrange for their car to be inspected and any necessary rectification work to take place. This will all be done under warranty and at specific Dacia-approved bodyshops across the UK.

As you would expect, we will do our utmost to minimise any inconvenience to you. When we contact you to organise an inspection of your car we will arrange to deliver a free courtesy car to you (a Duster - so you have the same car to drive around in whilst we have your car) at a time and place that is convenient to you. We will then take your car to one of our specialised Dacia-approved bodyshops and bring it back to you once the inspection, and any potential rectification work, is completed.

We're confident that you will be satisfied with any repair we may have to do to your car. In order to offer you peace of mind, if your vehicle does have any rectification work done to it, we will automatically extend both your Paintwork Warranty and your Anti-corrosion Warranty by a further year.

If you are yet to receive contact from us then please be assured that we will be in contact with you in the coming weeks. If you feel you may have this issue on your car, or have any queries at all, then please do get in touch with us at Dacia Customer Relations on 0151 212 1242.

Thank you.

Oooh.... I wonder if DACIA will extend the courtesy and give me a Sandero to use while the remaining rust is repaired? And I'm going to argue for the extended warranties as well, now.

I am visiting the bodyshop (GC South) in Southampton tomorrow to see the manager as it came back with only half the hoped for work done, and several small scratches on the front wing...... They will hopefully be taking the photos and submitting a quote for the remaining warranty work. They should have sorted this before doing the other spots, IMO, but it seems communications have broken somewhere between the dealer, Dacia Warranty and bodyshop.

I really want a different bodyshop to sort this so will be phoning DACIA CS to see if one I trust (A & J Lawrence, in Portsmouth) can do the rust repairs instead. I know they will have to do the scratches, as they caused them, but I really don't want the car gone for another two weeks just for three more little spots of rust.

BTW - All the rust is in exactly the areas described above in the DACIA statement. So, if you bought an early Sandero - get checking! Mine was actually built in March 2013.

Welcome to the forum, bigandy ! :)

Your post is very interesting, I hope the salesman is not telling 'porkies' for your sake. That's the best news to come out of Dacia for a long time ! ;)

Two things from your post , this could explain the lack of Dusters in the new reg compounds , secondly if it has India on the rear window glass you were lied to .

He had a full pdf outlining all the facelift differences. New alloys. New grill. Body colored door handles. And that they were starting to build them now for delivery in late October. And all models from 2012 to Aug 14 will be checked for paint faults

But ALL this aside....the burning question is......what colours are on offer for the new facelift Romanian ones !!!!??????????????

And....which colour did you choose...??? :D  :D

AND promise to post pictures when you get it....its the forum rules !!!

unfortunately , there are 10000+ people who have been sold sub standard cars and the visible progress to solve individual peoples problems is still not apparent . After 21 months Dacia is starting to realise the size of the problem . If the cars do come from Romania from October onwards , I will personally be very happy . The Romanian factories are brilliant at what they do .

Does Antavi know the inside track , he knows more about the Romanian factory than the CEO Dacia . If they have swapped to RHD he would know .
