Hi!

has anyone removed the roof storage compartment, I can see there are 2 fastenings at the rear but can't see much down the front end by the light; I've not looked too closely though? I'm looking a taking mine off, and sticking some acoustic carpet I have onto the inside of it before refitting, it'll stop the odd item rattling around on it. I may even have a little carpet left to do the glove box.

Nice one sidestand!

I hated it in demo i tested but not fussed actually. I had a sandero and lights to roof ws shoddy so like the tough plastic.

My seven year old asked what it was for and i said storage.

Oh! For my crisps and skittles!?

No .....not for that.....dont put that up there...dont put anything up there....its mum abd dad storage only....get it?

When I finished work today I had a little time spare so I attacked the roof storage, as it turns out it's really easy to remove; this is what I did:

  • First thing was to remove the light fitting, screwdriver on the right
side to prise it out then disconnect its power cable
  • This reveals:

  • The two circles on rectangles toward either side of the picture
above are clips that just need to be pulled out; they come fully out!

  • Next are two clips at the rear of the compartment, one either side,
a screwdriver in the small notch twisted should free these, these
    do not come fully out

  • The whole panel should come away with a gentle tug, remember
not to pull it too far though as the microphone for the bluetooth is
mounted at the front of the panel, it should just unclip off the panel.
Now just to cover it with the carpet!

  • After; a couple of creases in mine but you cant see them when refitted

  • Refitting is just the opposite to removal
  • A view from the rear when refitted

  • All done and really quick and easy

Would it be possible to remove it without leaving holes in the roof liner or would it be possible just to use some trim securing plugs to fill the holes? I am considering removing this on mine, when I get it, as it was the only thing about the car that I thought wasn't up to standard.

If the storage compartment is removed you would need a couple of plugs to seal the holes left behind and a little gentle steam to ease the indentation marks left behind. At the front though you would need a new light housing as its integral to the storage compartment, I presume it will just fit in, oh and there is the bluetooth mic in the compartment too that would need sorting
