Very upset the Sandero doesn't come with a locked fuel filler flap.

I was disgusted to find it open when I went to my driveway this evening - someone not only touching my new car, but gaining access and trespassing on my driveway to what I could imagine 1) Kids "having fun" 2) Attempt to steal petrol.

Even my 2002 Micra came with a locked fuel filler flap released by a similar mechanism to open the boot (the lever you pull up to release the boot, if you pushed it on the Micra it would open the petrol filler flap.). This does not instill much confidence. In fact would go far to say would not buy another Dacia because of this simple fact.

Other cars seem to lock it when the car is locked to prevent people from tampering with it.

Just for reference my partners 2012 Ford Fiesta 'titanium' (pretty much top of the range) firstly doesn't have a locking fuel filler flap, and secondly doesn't even have any fuel filler cap at all,not even a locking one,but most modern cars have an anti siphon system within the fuel intake pipe, making it very hard if not impossible to siphon fuel without specialist equipment,so I shouldn't worry too much.........

The duster fuel cap is locked like the stepway one...

Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to stop vandals...my old astra was keyed all round and the mirrors broken off and put under the car....i had had the car (which was 2nd hand) 2 weeks, and lived in aberdeen for 5 days... vandals will strike if they want to ....!

Silvery silver is the shiniest !

You could argue that someone looking to steal fuel might force open a locked filler flap, damaging it, only to find they couldn't open the locked cap inside. If the flap is not locked they can open it and see the locked cap without doing any damage!

Personally,I would be more worried about having my registration plates stolen and some toe rag using them on their car for a 'bilking',which in some areas is quite a common crime......

True. Worse things can happen. Small 'overreaction' shall we say - someone touch my baby!

You know what happened the next day I wrote this?

At around 4.45 in the afternoon I was sitting in traffic on Gloucester Road in Central London - Feeling smug amongst the Mercedes, BMWs, Porsche, thinking to myself I paid in cash what you people have probably put as a deposit on finance for your cars.

Sitting there listening to music as you do... DONK!!! A motorbike only went into the mirror. And he rode off! Did not even say sorry or acknowledge what happened!

OMG people are so rude. He was on learner plates so I wouldn't even have cared. By the fact he just went off had made me even more mad!!

I hope you got his number and reported it - That is technically a hit and run....

Things like this make me mad, as it gives the rest of us (bikers) a bad name!

Indeed it does!

I clipped a mirror on a Galaxy a few weeks back so I backed up to the driver apologised and asked if he wanted any details.

The chap said no bother nothing damaged but thanks for coming back!

See sometimes being nice pays off ;)
