I bought a new Sandero in January 2022. The purchase I suppose was triggered by some worries about the future of my 11 year old car at the time with some known problems that threatened future MOT clearance. I must have seen some internet reports on the DACIA brand and the claims of reliability and low cost. So I was drawn into visiting my local showroom . The deal offered by the salesman claiming a reduced price for a new car and for my exiting car seemed to good to miss. Looking back I don't know where the reduction was except that the model The Access was going to be replaced as the cheapest Dacia car available and the next model up up was a significant increase. When I got the bill at the final stage of the deal the bottom line price came as a surprise. The list of add ons and vat elements were an eye opener. I was certain (too late ) that I had been quoted for OTR - on the road . however lurking in the bill was delivery charge plus vat , first years tax etc. I think it came to around £900 more than what I expected OTR charge meant. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THAT I HAD BOUGHT A NEW CAR FOR AROUND 50 years I wonder whether anyone else is surprised at their final bill . I have alway bought cars around 2/3 years old in the past and the price paid was the price paid or very near.
I have now had the car for 5 months and despite a worry on a problem causing failure to start , now solved, I confess that the car is a pleasure to drive. The big surprise is every YouTube review of the car has warned against purchase of the SCe 65 version of the Sandero for lack of power . In my opinion the engine does not deserve this warning . It is more than adequate for urban driving. being very responsive with excellent pulling power on hills. I have yet to floor the throttle and much of the time the car is happy at a slight touch after accelerating. Yes I am nowelderly oldish and probably haven't an interest in driving the fastest car on the block or the car with Street cred but this engine doesn't deserve the unjust criticism .
It's early days yet and I might be tempted to post further reviews.
