I'm confused regarding the service intervals on my 1.3 petrol duster.
It was bought by me with 13000m on the clock, one year old and the dealer said they had serviced it prior to the sale. The next service being due in June 2026, but no mileage option is stated. I would have thought is would be something like "June 2026 or something like 20000 miles"
Just relying on a future date is useless as someone could drive 40000 miles.
The service it had at point of sale (one year old) was I believe an oil and filter change. But the MYDacia app does not record this service in the vehicles history.
So my question is at what age or mileage does it need its oil changed. Should it have had an oil service at one year old?
Is the first oil service at 2 years old, as its seems a long time if it is?
I am thinking of doing an oil service myself just to be sure, and doing an oil service at mid point between garage oil services just to be sure.
Is this just wasting money?

Check the oil on the dipstick. The drained crankcase oil will look totally different!

The 1st dealer service is only a cabin filter change. Definitely change the oil. U r not wasting any money. Do the dealer service also as advised.

Most of the service functions are; look at this, check level of that, very little actual work, and mostly things you can do for yourself on a frequency much closer than 20k. The exended oil chage frequencies are for the commercial market/company buyers who don't want cars off the road in the dealer, in my opinion.
If you do the oil/filter change yourself you know it's done properly and while you're down there have a look around and see if anything untoward is occuring.
Oil and filters are cheap, the job's not difficult (there are plenty of videos showing how if you're a bit unsure).

Just done an oil and filter change for the first time on my 2022 duster. And guess what I found loads of things they haven’t done. Missing bolts on the underside panel and worst of all no o ring on the fuel filter housing. So I now know I have the proper oil and the proper filters and the job is done right. Also it’s really really easy to do

Servicing is generally apprentice work - or for the least qualified in the dealership. There is also the time pressure involved - at one Honda dealership in Glasgow the apprentice got shouted at for taking too long removing a panel and the workshop manager just ripped it off the car!

I always get my cars checked before and after a service… to ensure there is no additional work picked up in the health check and to make sure things have been put back correctly…

This is something you must point out with your garage service provider...they have the option on their diagnostic machine to "set" your next service reminder by either " date"....or by " milage"..

12 months or 12000 miles , whichever is the soonest.
