I noticed the volume buttons are scratched/the coating has come off on the one for sale above, is this a common fault, has anybody else got this problem?I only ask as the buttons on my unit are the same.

After 3 years mine has the same faults - so it does seem the norm.

I got mine off ebay from a seller in Romania, there is a slight scratch on the + volume button but £180 delivered and all I had to buy was the UK/ Ireland maps at £55 and a GPS antenna @ £5 ish.

You could buy a new one and it could be scratched after a week........

PS mine was the only Sat Nav to find a really good breakfast deal at Morrisons during Dacia weekendescapades.

Only sayin' like (smiley with tongue hanging out as I don't have the emoticons option at the moment FFS)

HaHaHa, Mine was going a shorter route than yours , Just I did not believe it when we appeared to be going through a housing estate lol.... Then I looked in my rear view mirror and noticed a familiar white steppy doing a u--turn and heading back to the main road so we all spun round to follow it to discover someone in A Duster had gone straight on down the main road and had disappeared out of sight..... I never ever did find out if he got breakfast lol.....
