Following a recent clutch & slave cylinder change I noticed on start up and whilst driving a difference in engine sound (to my untrained ear - somewhat similar to a racing engine). Normally the engine sound was minimal whilest driving. I had the engine tested with a smoke detector - no escapes and all appears normal. Only conclusion reached 'could be the turbo'. A very mature lady driver, I am mystified by the workings of the engine but I do know when something isn't right with it. Can anyone suggest what steps to take next please as I really enjoy driving, especially long distances - I'm worried about breaking down.

Hi dralexandertom thanks for your prompt reply. I think the clutch is ok although it seems stiff to me - but I'm told that's normal. As to the rest of your reply I'm afraid I'm mystified. That's how much I know about engines! I'd already booked my car into Halfords for next Tuesday before reading your reply so I'm going to ask them the questions you're asking me (hope that's ok). I will check the RPM - I do know I hear the' racing' sound when the engine starts up. I'll also try and record the sound
P.S. can't remember when the previous clutch was good as I've been nursing it along for a good number of months before new clutch replace.
