How will they know if it's a malfunction light or a service reminder? Even if it's a service reminder u need to change the oil. Change the oil & filter and reset the service light. If it's due to an electrical/ electronic fault, that has to be attended to prior to the MOT.

 

I am assuming it is just service warning light just from reading through some things on google and on here as I also get the car with a spanner symbol when i start the car up. It has been through a service yesterday and oil amongst other things was done but the mechanic said he could not get that light off so thats why im unsure of what to do about it as I dont want it to fail MOT because of it.

 

The zig zag amber and red lights are two stage warning of a failure in one of the cars electronic systems, they are not a service light.
The service or maintenance light is a spanner symbol.
Without any other lights displayed I would expect nothing more than an 'advisory' note on the certificate.

 

This "feature" was introduced with the '17 facelift. It appears @12 k miles or 360 days. The spanner is only on the highest spec (UK) cars and should be able to be reset with the button on the end of the wiper stalk. My early car has neither, but has the same electronics.
The dealer or a garage that has paid to use Renault Diagnostics should reset it on service. [ There are unofficial ways on the forum ].
A service warning is no more a MOT failure than a radio not working, If not having your car serviced by a dealer was an MOT failure not many older cars would pass an MOT.

For what it's worth no one has posted any MOT problem with the light being on.

This was fully explained about 4yrs. Ago in an old post if you can find it.You can’t remove the light with the usual methods,forcing you to go to Renault garage for service.
The OBD Works perfectly been using it since about 2020.Good luck.
