Well, it’s finally happened. After 25 years of motoring, I’ve lost a car key.

Called a local key guy who specialises in car keys and he says better off going direct to Dacia dealership. Currently in a stand off with them about a warranty issue so would rather not but if needs must…

Anyone know how much it costs before I get over my dread at having to deal with them? Just a regular key and RCL fob on a Duster.

(I don’t have key replacement with my insurance but should I notify them anyway?)

Do you have a spare, you should always have 2 keys.
If so go to Timkins and see if they can help.
Otherwise there are some very clever car key specialists, the difficulty is finding one near you - ask every one you can, search online etc.
Otherwise throw yourself at the mercy of the dealer.
Why would you want to tell your insurance company, unless you've got you name and addrress/details with the keys, in which case you need to change all your locks.

Yeah, we've got a second key. It was our local specialist (gets great reviews for car keys) that said 'Dacia is a nightmare for keys, you're better off going to the dealer.'

Just wondered if, in the event of a claim for theft, they could say I hadn't told them one of the keys were lost.

Well, touch wood, after 64 years of motor ownership I have never lost a key, nor come to that, even a key to my house (!)
