Have tried to keep off the motorways with my new Stepway 0.9 petrol while its still new.The saleman said keep the engine below 3000 rpm for the first
1800 miles or so.
This weekend I have to use the motorway network and with only 500 miles on the clock, can I assume all will be well if I vary the speed/revs?
Or......would modern oils and engine tolerances negate such precautions?????

Motorways aren't the best environments for running in an engine effectively, but sometimes needs must.
At 500 miles a modern engine is probably pretty much run in, so I wouldn't worry too much.
On a positive note, our 0.9 Stepway engine continued to smooth out and petrol consumption improved over the first 3K.
