There are two types; MediaNav, (amber icons) and late 2015/ early 2016 MediaNav Evolution (coloured icons.)

LAN5200WR1 models are pre-Evolution,

LAN5200WR4 models are Evolution, as far as I can tell.

There's also a newer DAB M.Nav Evolution.

The Evolution models have enhanced smartphone capabilities with AHA app, which might be worthless, and TNC live traffic, which might be useful. Both interface with the steering wheel controls and the internal mic in the car. They are easy to fit. No CD player!

As of today's date, older MediaNav units are still getting a 'free' map upgrade to current maps, and a free upgrade to full UK postcode search. Used units from car breakers can come with odd maps installed, but will probably also have the UK mapping installed.

There are often MediaNavs on Ebay but sellers won't usually know whether they have an Evolution or not. If the date on the label is 2016+ then it's probably an Evolution. Prices range from about ÂŁ190 to ÂŁ225. A new Garmin sat-nav, with free lifetime traffic and maps is about ÂŁ135.

Radio codes for used units are freely available on here, taken from the last four digits of the serial number, as in S1234.

If you want the GPS antenna, it's a blue FAKRA connector and they are about ÂŁ5.00 on Ebay.

The free map upgrade with the older medianav is only available for 90 days from when the vehicle it was fitted in was registered.... Any upgrades after the initial 90 days are not free.

Respo I seen your old medianav yester day in its new happy owners Duster lol.

"Any upgrades after the initial 90 days are not free."

That is/was the official line, but I updated my neighbour's June 2015 MNav today, it updated the maps and postcode entry, to current UK maps/POi's plus newest system software. Maybe there's 'one free update' or something.

Date of 'first start' is recorded by MediaNav and sent to MN Toolbox, which logs it, but we're way past 90 days.

Perhaps someone else can check. Some guys on the Renault forums are also getting 'latest maps' for free. (Q4, 2015 maps.)

'Latest Maps Guarantee' whatever that means. Also map prices have risen since Brexit by about 10%. It's not good.

"Respo I seen your old medianav yesterday in its new happy owners Duster lol."

It won't be much use, up there near the North Pole. Probably eaten by a Polar Bear, by now. :)

For what it's worth I'm going to put one back in the Logan, after the Garmin kept falling off during a brisk careful run to Brussels last week.

Did you do your neighbours update on the Renault medianav site or the Dacia mediav site....

System software updates are always free and I think the full postcode is update is also free, But the map updates are not free after the 90 days.

Dacia Toolbox, today. (1/08/2016) Free UK map upgrade on June 2015 Mnav. Way out of 90 day limit.

Maybe linked to system upgrade at the same time.

Some of the Renault users report the same.
Just tried mine out of curiosity hoping their maybe a glitch on the medianav site.... but no such luck for me.

What version maps do you have? The 'current ones' downloaded yesterday were Q4/2015. If you already have those, no upgrade would be upgraded, presumably.

There was also a list of Renault/Dacia POI's dated 2012, plus the system software, and the postcode fubar fix.

Some of the Renault-ists are complaining to the dealer about the horror/cost of getting updates, and getting 'free' updates installed at service time.

I just picked up an amber-screen MNav for the car, our local breakers sells them for ÂŁ220.

The maps on my unit are Q4/2012, I missed the 90 day deadline so I only got the free software & postcode update.
