2017 Duster Prestige 1.5 tdci. I've had this from new and it has now covered 103,000 miles with no problerms. The dealer replaced the MediaNav unit under warranty when the digital radio failed. I've serviced it myself from 40,000 miles. It's a 30-40 minute job plus another 20-30 minutes if you're doing the diesel filter. I always use Castrol GTX fully synthetic 5w30 C4 (RN0720) and change the oil and filters every 10k miles. Timing belt/water pump & tensioners + poly-v belt all changed at 74k. I also changed the front discs and pads at 85k. The pads were 50% worn but one disc was slightly warped. Most of my driving is on motorways or A roads so I average slightly over 50 mpg which is amazing for such an un-aerodynamic car. Sophisticated it isn't, but that is part of its charm. All in all, this has been amazing value for money and I'm not planning to change it any time soon.

And talking of keys.........................

Being an ex mobility vehicle, I only got one key with the car (missed that in the Cazoo small print!) and that means several hundred pounds for a spare (yet to get an exact price).

I spoke to an auto locksmith who says that the latest Renault coding requires a specialist cable which seems to be hard to get at the moment so it will have to be a main Dealer or wait until the supply chain eases off. In the meantime I will have to rely upon a Bluetooth key finder as a halfway house solution. Still, I got the colour I wanted, and the spec that I wanted plus a couple of extras with no waiting. Maybe ÂŁ15k for a 10 month old Duster with 1600 miles is not that bad in today's market, but certainly not as sweet as I originally thought. (Love the car though:)).

Edit: Spare key was ÂŁ248.

Why do mobility cars only come with 1 key??

2013 Duster 4x4 Laureate diesel.

Ever since they were first launched in the United Kingdom, I dreamed of owning one. A cousin bought one, specified to the max, 4x4, but found it just a bit to small (there's tons of space - I don't understand that).

Last year I took the plunge, being on a limited budget I bought my Duster at last and was very pleased with it indeed. Everything worked, though I felt a little let down by the specs, was expecting it to have reversing sensors etc, but what it did have worked fine, right up until the UCH, threw a wobbly.

Hearing all the horror stories of the cost of replacement I decided in my infinite wisdom (not), to try and work around it. Most of the essentials still work fine, what I lost was one tail light, the instrument lights, the heating and blowers and as far as I can tell that's about it. I replaced all the fuses, before anyone mentions the obvious and to be honest I'm hoping that the UCH is fixable without replacement.

I took my car to the local mechanic who told me to leave it with him and he'd sort out the electrics. He phoned me a couple of days later to say he couldn't fix it because there was to much non standard wiring. In fact, all it had was the standard Dacia towbar kit, presumably fitted by the dealer when it was new. When I got there to pick it up, it was howling (screaming from the tailgate in fact). I don't know what he tried to do but I picked it up (no charge) in far worse state than when I left it. On the way home I pulled the cover off and discovered it was the lock that was screaming. I cut the wires - yes, I know, but you should have heard it.

I bought the Renolink software and genuine OBD2 interface - now the software writer wants one hundred euros to register the software to make it work. It claims to be able to clone the UCH but I've read elsewhere that once an ECU is written it can't then be rewritten, so I guess I could buy a brand new UCH and hope for the best or as is most likely the case, get some money together and take it to my local Dacia dealer and grovel!

Its got rust below the doors, just surface rust. I thought about painting the rest of that area the same colour.

I feel like someone saw me coming really as I've been a bit of a mug buying this one. But I'm determined to get it sorted and I'm soon to get some inheritance and I may well just go to the Dacia dealer and lick his boots.

Other than that, I love this car and want to keep it forever and ever.

Big problem getting spare parts have been waiting 6 weeks for replacements and no sign of them yet 👎👎👎
I don't know about the availability of spare parts and it has passed every MOT. :)
To be honest, I have never needed any spare parts to 2013 model and >50K on the clock (!) :)

New here but 3 years into ownership of my 1.3 tce edc Prestige, owned from new and 32,000 trouble free miles.
Used as a workhorse and while not precious about it i have grown attached to it.

Currently averaging 48mpg on mixed A and B roads it is relaxing and reasonably quick when needed.I had planned to trade it in for a new Polo gti but changed my mind as i am planning a weekend toy instead with no plans as yet to move the Duster on.

Serviced regularly and one set of tyres is all it has needed so far.

After some questions here on the forum, I (or better we, my wife and I) descided to take the step. This one came on our internet markedplace. 2018 model with 23.500 km's! Few e-post later it was mine!
Made an appointment to pick it up: 27 mai.

As I mentioned before in another posting we didn't want a black car and we like this colour!
After the paperwork we did some sideseeing, and the next day the trip home. 500km's in bad weather.
Whole day it was raining but this is not a side about the weather.
We never drove in a Duster before, but the first km's we fell in love already.
Drove some sandroads, and it feels tight. A big difference with a car with 250.000 km's on the clock.
The seats are fine (and almost new) maybe the A-pillar (?) is a little big, but not a real problem.
More gadgets than I need, but also some I din't expect they were so handy.
I like that the speed which is set in the cruisecontrol, is displayed in the dashboard.
The engine has enough torque. 90km/h in 6 is fine. A lot of roads is the max 80 so here is 5th the right gear. So 6 will not be used much.

Don't like that the radio is on everytime I start. Maybe it's possible to switch it of in the settings.

Yes so far we are happy. Have some 'problems/questions' that I will ask in the boards that are ment for that.

edit: some typo's

It's good that you have finally found a car.
With your comments regarding size of windscreen pillar and display functionality I think you came from a much older car as most vehicles are like this for more than ten years.
I had been lucky to have 'owned' company cars for quite a few years (Volvo) and I expected to be disappointed with a Duster but instead I remain pleasantly surprised.
With regard to the radio I know with our 2019 Prestige model if it is switched off when the car was last driven it remains off at next starting.
Happy travels!

Time to put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboards I guess). Some of you love your Duster, some of you don't. Let us know what you really think by adding your short review to our Duster owners review page:

http://www.daciaforum.co.uk/dacia-car-reviews/dacia-duster-owners-reviews/

It'll only take a couple of minutes at the maximum.

Help another owner decide on their next purchase!

Thanks

Nick
Bought my Duster adblue second hand last December 2021 model. I love my duster. Its comfortable on a long run and very quiet despite the noisy pump. There is one area where I think the makers are missing a trick and that is the rear seats and boot space. The boot is massive but the back seats don't fold down flat. I had a C3 Picaso before and the back seats folded down flush with the floor of the boot
